Tropical Joy at Friends and Fun

Tropical Joy at Friends and Fun

The Spring Grove Area High School gymnasium was filled with joy, laughter, and tropical vibes during this year’s annual Friends and Fun Festival. The SGAHS Friends and Fun Club, with support from the club’s advisors and the Special Education Department, planned and hosted the event, which welcomed students from kindergarten through 12th grade across the District for a full day of inclusive fun and connection.

This year’s tropical theme brought out colorful decorations, sunny spirit, and matching festival t-shirts worn proudly by all participants. The shirts featured the winning design created by Spring Grove Elementary student Wade Keifer, whose artwork captured the energy and excitement of the event.

Throughout the day, students rotated through a variety of activity stations, including arts and crafts, parachute play, dancing, interactive games, and a popular sensory room filled with slime, bubbles, and other hands-on materials. Students also got to spend time with a few friendly therapy dogs, who were happy to be part of the festivities.

The festival is the highlight of the year for the Friends and Fun Club. The students meet throughout the year to plan the event, working together to ensure every student feels welcomed, engaged, and celebrated.

A heartfelt thank you to the Friends and Fun Club, its dedicated advisors, Mrs. Pensinger and Mrs. Frey, the Special Education Department, and all the volunteers who made this memorable day possible. The festival once again reminded us of the power of connection and the importance of celebrating every student in Rocket Nation.
